A founding partner of architectsAlliance, Adrian’s contribution to the principles and ideas that inform our practice has been profound.

Adrian was an inspired designer and an inspiring leader. He wrote thoughtfully and persuasively about the meaning and purposes of architecture — to create a civil urban realm; to render science visible to the world it serves; to embrace and celebrate the toughness and ‘messy vitality’ of our cities; to imagine — and then build — better than we inherited.

Adrian was a beacon to those of us who worked with him. His memory — and the works he leaves behind — will continue to guide us in the years ahead.
