The original U-shaped former textile factory was renovated and restored, with six storeys of steel framed construction rising from the existing structure. The addition is set back from the original building and extensively glazed to allow a clear reading of both historic form and new construction.
Residential units in the original and new structures are designed to maximize natural light and views to the lake and the city. The historically significant façade and main lobby of the building have been restored, as has the bright red rooftop sign that has illuminated the waterfront skyline for nearly 80 years.
