Helen is a designer with a unique multidisciplinary practice and perspective. Following undergraduate studies in architecture at Carleton University, illustration design at Sheridan College and photography at OCAD University, Helen received her Master of Architecture from the Architectural Association in London UK, with a specialization in housing and urbanism.
Helen plays a pivotal design role at a—A in pushing forward the conceptual thinking behind some of the studio's most engaging residential and mixed-use projects, from the Junction Point residences in Toronto’s emerging Junction Triangle neighbourhood, including the revitalized Museum of Contemporary Art, to the development of masterplans for new communities in the Golden Mile and Brampton. She has been with a—A since 2007 and has notably led the design direction of recent a—A mid-rise projects, developing a nuanced approach to the challenges of density and scale in an ever-changing city. Whether interrogating existing building typologies or proposing new ones, her work has sought out imaginative solutions to questions about the evolving relationship between built form, public realm and urban living.
