Jon is an architect and educator whose professional practice and research interests explore complex programmatic mixes in urban contexts, analysing issues of typology, publicness, morphology, and financial imperatives influencing the built environment. His design work seeks resolutions to sustainable design using contemporary materials and technology.
Jon is responsible for the design and management of mixed use, multi-unit residential, office, retail, cultural, and academic facilities, and is currently overseeing the realization of the University of Toronto Centre for Civilizations, Cultures & Cities project on Queen’s Park Circle. Prior to this, Jon’s varied work experiences included work for Morphosis in Los Angeles and for John McMinn Studio in studio in Toronto, where he helped to design and install Canada’s contribution to the 2008 Venice Architecture Biennale. Jon teaches undergraduate and graduate level architecture and urban design studios as a Sessional Lecturer at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape & Design at the University of Toronto, and is a frequent guest critic for the University of Waterloo and Ryerson University architecture programs.
