Rob is an innovative architect who believes that clear conceptual design must appeal to the imagination as well as the intellect. Rob has nearly 25 years’ experience in the design and construction of residential, hotel and mixed buildings in Canada, the US and the Caribbean – projects with complex programs, stringent budgets and tightly controlled schedules.
Rob oversaw the award-winning Thompson Hotel and Residences, a $120M project that transformed Toronto’s King-Spadina precinct. He has also led a number of a–A projects involving heritage and protected architecture, including the St. James Cathedral Archive & Parish Hall renovation and expansion, and Tiptoplofts, which reconfigured a landmark Art Deco warehouse into contemporary residential condominiums on the Toronto waterfront. Rob is currently guiding the design team for a–A’s expansion to the Chateau Laurier in the national capital of Ottawa, and the Hotel Vancouver, incorporating significant, iconic modern additions to two of Canada’s most significant early 20th century railway hotels. Additionally, Rob is playing a key role in the redevelopment of Pickering City Centre as a mixed community featuring rental and market housing, a new public library and performing arts centre.
