Generations Toronto is an innovative and multi-facetted project that addresses the needs of a burgeoning new suburban community, while creating a highest-best use for a former employment lands site.
Located at a key intersection in the new Wynford Green community, Generations Toronto offers a complex program of residential, institutional, social and retail programming. The new mixed-use community is serviced by the Don Mills station of the new Eglinton Crosstown LRT. In total, Wynford Green will provide almost 5,000 residential units in nine towers, three mid-rise buildings, and a number of townhouse blocks.
Generations Toronto consists of a 27-storey tower and 11-storey mid-rise pavilion anchored by a grade-related podium, programmed with 390 units of affordable housing, including 10% sized for families, 10% that are accessible, and 15% that are barrier-free. A 120-bed long-term care facility is integrated into the development, providing seniors with the opportunity to transition to a higher level of care without leaving their community. It also allows families living in Wynford Green—or in Generations Toronto itself—to remain in daily contact with elders and to be able to continue to support them with personal care.
The podium is programmed with a 409 M2 early childhood development program, a medical clinic, a 1,049 M2 multi-purpose space, 2,396 M2 in indoor and outdoor residential amenity space, and 612 M2 in retail tenancies.a–A successfully completed the Official Plan amendment and re-zoning for the project, supported by our innovative approach to integrating the diverse program, and our sensitive incorporation of the heritage façade of the original mid-century Modern façade of the IBM/Celestica building into the new construction.
